Streamlining User Lifecycle Management Process and Enhancing Internal Audit Controls and Governance for a North American College

Highlights
Challenge
Our client needed a new Identity Management System since their existing system was outdated and inadequate to support the unique requirements of their identity lifecycle. It did not have capacity to meet the current digital business demands for rapid and streamlined user onboarding and did not address information security and compliance requirements for the timely de-provisioning or removal of user access as users left the system.
Solution
We collaborated closely with the client to thoroughly understand their challenges and design a solution that aligns with both their present needs and future cloud migration strategy, specifically aiming to minimize changes within their Saviynt system during this transition.
Middleware for Seamless Migration
We implemented a middleware database to facilitate the client's transition from on-premises to a cloud-based authoritative source without altering Saviynt. This database acted as the immediate authoritative source for Saviynt, providing comprehensive user data, including multi-role assignments, in a unified record to streamline processes like cross-boarding and user termination.
Handling Diverse User Sources
Our solution architects configured Saviynt to serve as the authoritative source for user types not managed by the primary authoritative source, ensuring comprehensive user management across all categories.
Custom Enhancements via Code
We developed and integrated custom Java code into Saviynt to fulfill specific client requirements that were not natively supported by the standard connector functionalities.
Outcomes
Over a 13-month timeframe, we achieved the following outcomes:
Global User Adoption
Successfully deployed the modern Cloud IGA platform, decommissioning the outdated Identity Management Solution.
Significant Reduction in False Positives
Custom Saviynt reports help the client identify and rectify multiple existing discrepancies, streamlining the Identity and Access Management (IAM) processes.
Operational Efficiency
Streamlined processes for new enhancements, application integrations, and operational activities.
Scalable Foundation
Established a solid infrastructure to support the onboarding of future applications.
